According to the
estimates contained in the Active Employment Survey (Spanish acronym: EPA),
drafted by the National Institute of Statistics (Spanish acronym: INE),
employment fell by 184,600 people in the first quarter of 2014 on the previous
quarter, compared with a fall of 309,200 people in the same period of 2013.
This is the lowest decline in the first quarter of the year since 2008. 79,600
jobs have been shed in the last year (-0.5%). In turn, unemployment has posted
a fall of 2,300 people, while it increased by 257,200 in the same period of
2013. In the last year, unemployment has fallen by 344,900 people, the largest
annual fall since mid-2005. The total number of people out of work stands at
5,933,300, an increase in the unemployment rate of two tenths of a point to
25.9%, one percentage point less than a year ago.

March is the deadline to submit the declaration of assets abroad
Last year the

Jobless claims fall on monthly basis for first time since 2007
The
Spanish economy is finally beginning to create jobs, albeit at a very slow
pace, the Labor Ministry confirmed on Tuesday. The number of Social Security
contributors grew 0.38 percent year-on-year in February, meaning that for the
first time since the beginning of the crisis in 2008 there are more workers in
the system than there were a year ago; specifically, 61,557 more.
Month-to-month growth was 0.24 percent from January.

REDUCED SOCIAL SECURITY COSTS FOR PERMANENT CONTRACTS
On March 1
the government made official the entry into force of the measure announced
last week in the debate of the state of the nation with the aim of encouraging
the hiring of workers, consisting in reducing the Social Security payments for
non-work-related injuries or illnesses (common contingencies), for all
companies that make permanent contracts .
