The Tax Reform will also lower retentions of corporate managers

As we have advanced in previous articles the government is working on a deep fiscal reform in order to boost the economy and creating jobs. Final approval of the tax reform will involve a modification of the retentions that apply to the salaries of managers and directors of corporations. This measure is in line with the reduction applied by self performing professional activities (see here).

Do I have to inform the Tax Office of my change of address?


 
Not only our friends, family and neighbors want to know where we live, also Tax Authorities and other government departments such as Social Security or traffic office should know our address in order to contact us if needed. The tax law establishes the obligation to notify the fiscal address to the tax administration offices, as well as variations that may occur in it.

Spain posts highest ever January-July result with 36.3 million inbound tourists, an increase of 7%

 
 
Spain was visited by 36.3 million inbound tourists in the first seven months of the year - up 7% on the same period of 2013 and an all-time record since these figures began to be kept by the Inbound Tourism Survey (FRONTUR) drafted by the General Sub-directorate of Tourism Information and Studies of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism.

HIRING WORKERS? DO NOT FORGET ABOUT THE HEALTH AND SAFETY AT WORK


Today we will talk about the obligation to carry out the Health and Safety at Work prevention (HSW) by the self-employed or companies. The Law 31/1995 states among other things that as entrepreneurs, exist the obligations to:
  • Take the necessary measures for the protection of workers
  • Inform and train workers regarding the HSW.
  • To act facing an emergency situation and facing serious and imminent risk .
  • Monitoring the health of their workers.
  • Establish an organization and tools for prevention.

Export growth slows in first six months of 2014

 
 
In the first six months of 2014, Spanish exports grew by 0.5% year-on-year to 119.27 billion euros, which is an all-time high for the period in the series of comparable data (since 1971). In real terms, growth was higher - at 0.9% - since export prices measured by Unit Value Indices (UVIs) fell by 0.4%.
 
Spanish export trends in the first six months of the year remain better than those of the country's main trading partners. In this regard, Spanish accumulated exports outperformed those of France (-1.8%) and the United Kingdom (-14.7%), although German exports were better (2.4%). Outside the EU, US exports grew by 2.9% while those of Japan grew by 3.2% in the first six months of 2014.

The need to document sales and services

 
 
In business as in life often we tend to simplify the maximum we can and especially in regards to paperwork, but too much simplification can bring negative consequences for not clear from the beginning all the points of the business relationship .

A large part of sales and services are agreed verbally. Legally a verbal agreement is as valid as a written one, but it is more convenient to document sales and services to avoid further problems..

Summer hiring sees registered unemployed fall 29,841 in July


​Recorded unemployment has fallen by 278,954 over the last 12 months, and the year-on-year rate now stands at -5.94%. This rate has fallen by more than 18 points since the high of 12.5% recorded in May 2012. The accumulated reduction in recorded unemployment in the first seven months of the year - a total of 281,478 people - is the highest since 1998.

More self-employed but less income.



In the last months due to high unemployment, the government has introduced many important measures to encourage self-employment, such as reduced fees for both people younger than 30 and also for people over 30, 20% tax discount during the first two years that the new self-employed people obtain a profit and other measures that according to the Tax Office have increased the number of self-employed people but it seem is not gold all that glitters.

People over 65 will not be taxed on capital gains from sales of assets





Some time ago the government announced it was working on a deep fiscal reform that will affect many tax matters in order to encourage the economic development and job creation.
The government on Friday approved the final text of the Fiscal Reform. A novelty compared to what we knew would contain that capital gains from the sale of assets, such real estate, shares, etc obtained by people over 65 will not be taxed. The necessary condition for exemption is that these benefits have to be invested in financial assets to supplement the state pension (annuities, private pensions,...)
