Foreign tourism continues to collect positive results. After experiencing the highest growth in the last six years with the arrival of 15.3 million passengers through April, the data provided by Turespaña confirm another record , this time in terms of expenditure.
International
visitors who chose Spain as a holiday destination in the first quarter
spent a record 14.856 million euros , representing an increase of 11.2 %
over the same period of 2013 . The increase experienced in April ,
compared with the same month last year , involves up to 18.4 % , with 4,790 million euros spent.
The positive trend experienced in the fourth month of the year , however , is conditioned by the effect of Holy Week , which in 2014 fell in April rather than in March , as in 2013. Germany , UK and Nordic countries were the source markets that contributed to this increase. Spending by British visitors experienced a rise of 22.8 % to 19.6% of hoarding total.
