More tourists than ever seeking the Spanish sun

That tourism is now the driving force of the Spanish economy has become something of a truism. But such is the case. Experts and hotel owners agree that July and August have met all expectations with the predictions indicating that records for foreign visitors will be broken once again.

Brits, Germans and the French have flocked to Spain for their summer vacations in their droves with the coasts of the Canary Islands, Balearics and Catalonia absorbing tourists put off by events in other countries such as Egypt, where the ongoing political crisis has caused visitor numbers to plummet.

Entrepreneurs Law: 20% TAX REDUCTION FOR NEW SELF- EMPLOYED PEOPLE

Among the measures introduced by the Entrepreneur Law approved by the government and whose objectives is to support entrepreneurs, economic stimulus and job creation, it states a 20% reduction on the net income for those that are established as autonomous from now.

What does this mean?.. Net income is the difference between income and expenditure, which is the tax base subject to taxation. That tax base will be lowered, thus resulting tax will be lower. If we get 1000 Euros in net income, to apply the reduction will remain in 800, which will result in tax savings for the self.

Partial time work contracts hit a new record.

The number of workers in part-time jobs has hit yet new highs as a result of the labor reform introduced in February of last year and the impact of the country’s longest recession since the restoration of democracy. According to the National Statistics Institute’s (INE) latest Active Population Survey (EPA), 16.4 percent of those employed are working part time.

While the number of jobs available has fallen by 18 percent from the highs seen during the previous boom, the number of workers in part-time employment has increased by slightly more than 20 percent. Part-time work has traditionally been the least preferred option for many workers, but with just under six million people out of a job and a jobless rate of over 26 percent, people are now more willing to accept any form of employment.
