Contract for Training and Learning

Today we will learn more things about a form of contract which is gaining popularity in many sectors and companies that need to hire workers. This is the contract for Training and Learning (Contrato para la formaciĆ³n y el aprendizaje).

This contract seeks to encourage the hiring of workers aged 16 to 25 who do not have a recognized professional qualification for an internship , and whom are balancing their theoretical work learning with the development of the employment activity for which they are preparing and thus can be incorporated into the labor market in better conditions and benefits for the employer. By the moment, it is allowed to celebrate it with workers up to 30 years of age until the unemployment rate in Spain drops under 15% , which seems far away today as Spain suffers the highest unemployment rate since this statistic is controlled.

The main advantage for the employer on this type of contract is 100 % reduction in social security contributions to both the worker and the company in contracts set up with workers registered as unemployed at the Employment Office. The theoretical training that the employee will receive is 100 %  supported.

The contract lenghth will be between 1 year ( minimum) and 3 years (maximum) but the workers collective agreement may make a different duration and never would be less than 6 months or the maximum 3 years.

The contract cannot be partial time and as is sharing actual work with training activity , the effective working time may not exceed 75% the first year and 85% the second year . Salary during the first year will be 75% of the minimum wage and 85% during the 2nd and 3rd year of contract.
